Boston University – Online (Reviews)
What are the educational options for adults who are busy with family and work commitments? The online Undergraduate Degree Completion Program (UDCP) offered through Boston University Metropolitan College is an excellent way to complete a bachelor’s degree that was begun but, for whatever reason, was not finished.
The sixteen online courses that are required for this program will equip the student for real progress toward meeting personal and vocational goals. Graduates of the UDCP program are granted the degree of Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Interdisciplinary Studies from Boston University. Required coursework covers the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities—including literature and history. Writing skills and the relevance of the liberal arts to contemporary life are emphasized throughout the program of study.
Prerequisites for admission are 52 to 64 credits from regionally accredited college-level schools. These transfer credits should include a first-year-level course in English composition and writing, as well as a college math or other quantitative skills course. Completing the bachelor’s degree program takes about thirty months.
Once admitted to UDCP, students generally take one seven-week course at a time. Motivation is important to keep on track, for courses must be completed within the allotted timeframe. Most communication in BU online courses is through e-mail, but courses may also include online lectures and videos, plus discussion boards for interaction with other students.
