Grand Canyon University – Online (Reviews)
Located in Phoeniz, AZ, Grand Canyon University is a private, accredited, Christian university founded in 1949. The university routinely makes US News and World Report and the Student Guide to America’s 100 Best College Buys.
Online students have the option of studying Education, Business, Nursing and Health Sciences, as well as Liberal Arts. This includes both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Advantages of GCU’s online program include an accelerated schedule that allows students to complete their degrees in less than two years. Each semester, students take two, 8-week courses, focusing on one class at a time.
Students can access the online forum whenever is convenient for them to do so, with the expectation that they log in at least four times during the week to stay abreast of any emails from professors.
The school uses what it calls a “cohort” system of learning. Students advance together through the core courses, developing relationships with classmates as they work their way through their chosen program of study.
Besides allowing flexibility, the GCU Online saves students more than 50 percent on tuition online compared to the traditional on-campus classes. GCU Online offers financial aid packages to those who qualify, including VA benefits to veterans.
